On 10 May 2018, Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu delivered a “Startup Law 101” training at the Boğaziçi University Entrepreneurship Center (BÜGM) — covering the essentials Türk founders need to navigate from incorporation to first venture round.
Training Coverage
The 101 curriculum walked Boğaziçi student founders through the legal foundations of starting up in Türkiye:
- Founder Agreements — co-founder vesting, IP assignment, decision rights
- Incorporation choices — Anonim Şirket vs Limited Şirket, Delaware flip-up timing
- Equity & ESOP — option pools, vesting schedules, exercise mechanics
- SAFE & convertibles — Y Combinator SAFE adaptation for Türk-incorporated entities
- Term sheet anatomy — liquidation preference, anti-dilution, board composition, drag-along
- KVKK basics — data protection compliance from day one
