On October 12, 2016, our Managing Partner Erdem Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu, with the Startup Hukuku team, attended the Industry 4.0 Conference at Wyndham Grand Levent. Leaders from Turkey’s leading institutions — Eczacıbaşı, Mercedes, Koç Sistem, General Electric — took the stage; the IDC Technology Sector Awards were presented in the same setting.

The central thesis of the conference was clear: Industry 4.0 is much more than the digitization of production lines; through data ownership, machine-to-machine communication, cybersecurity, and the allocation of liability, it is also redefining the legal framework.

Speaking institutions and agenda

With leaders from Eczacıbaşı, Mercedes, Koç Sistem and GE on stage, the conference covered the maturity of the industry–software intersection in Turkey, corporate digital-transformation journeys, and partnership models with technology producers.

The startup–industry bridge

Mümtaz used the conference to share his perspective on how the law frames startup–industry collaboration models and to build connections with corporate decision-makers.
