On September 28, 2016, our Managing Partner Erdem Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu attended the Social Good Summit (Sosyal Fayda Zirvesi) Istanbul Meetup, organized in Istanbul by UNDP Turkey and partners. Mümtaz participated wearing two hats: as a Startup Hukuku Columnist and as a YBL21 Fellow.
The central thesis of the summit was clear: under the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the impact of technology and new media on social-good initiatives must be treated not just as a tool — but as one of the foundational inputs of policy design.
Summit format
Held under the theme #2030Now and the question “What kind of world do I want to live in by 2030?”, the event brought together speakers from Turkey and the Europe & CIS region. Corporate digital responsibility, mobile journalism, sustainable fashion and education technologies anchored the sessions.
Mümtaz’s participation
Mümtaz carried both a startup-law perspective and his YBL21 Fellow‘s next-generation leadership lens into the summit; he engaged with the table on the points where social-good initiatives need a clearer legal framework.
Highlights from this summit
- Theme: #2030Now — a 2030 vision
- Speakers: UNDP, Türk Telekom, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Al Jazeera, Financial Times
