In June 2023, at the Hypergames Summit, our Managing Partner Erdem Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu joined the panel “Show me the money — Let’s talk about investing in games” alongside leading figures in gaming investment.
The central thesis of the panel was clear: investing in game ventures is a discipline that — unlike classical tech investing — requires the simultaneous management of intellectual property, user economies, and platform-dependency layers.

Legal layers in gaming investment
Mümtaz mapped the legal layers behind every gaming investment decision: IP ownership and licensing rights, the classification of user-generated content, the consumer-law status of in-game economies, dependency risk in platform agreements, and the jurisdiction choice of game studios.
Investor perspective
The other panelists addressed portfolio thesis, team assessment, the prototype-to-pre-launch transition, and divergences across mobile, PC and Web3 gaming markets from an investor’s vantage point.
