In October 2019, the book “Step by Step Bioentrepreneurship: A Roadmap for Biotechnology Founders and Investors” was published — and our Managing Partner Erdem Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu contributed a chapter from a legal perspective. The book is the first of its kind in Turkey and was edited by Prof. Dr. Işıl Kurnaz and Dr. Sevgi Salman Ünver (published by Aba Yayın).
The central thesis of the book was clear: biotech entrepreneurship requires a distinct legal vocabulary that goes beyond classical startup law — covering patents, clinical-research authorizations, government incentives, and industry collaboration.
Mümtaz’s contribution
From a legal lens, the chapter covers in depth incorporation choices for biotech ventures, IP strategy, clinical-research authorizations, and industry–startup collaboration agreements.
Target audience
The book was designed as a reference for graduate students interested in bioentrepreneurship, academics, angel investors, industrialists, incubation centers and technology-transfer offices.
