Generative AI Micro Summit

On June 8, 2024, at the Generative AI Micro Summit organized by Komünite.com.tr at the QNBeyond Levent seminar venue, our Managing Partner Erdem Mümtaz Hacıpaşaoğlu tackled the legal and ethical dilemmas of generative AI through the lens of “how do you build a compliant AI?”

The central thesis of the summit was clear: for generative AI to create real value, legal compliance is not just a constraint — it must be treated as one of the fundamental inputs to product design.

Speakers

The summit featured Mümtaz alongside Fatih Guner, Burcu Yılmaz, Eren Dik, Erman Taylan, and Mehmet Cetin.

Legal and ethical dilemmas

The session examined training-data issues in generative AI (copyright, licensing), personal-data and trade-secret risks in user input, misleading content in generated output, copyright collisions, and the question of “where does each actor stand in the chain of liability?”

How do you build a compliant AI?

Mümtaz emphasized that producer companies should bake data-governance policies, contractual risk-sharing, model cards, usage limits and auditability logs into the design of the product from day one.

Highlights from this summit

  • Training data: Copyright, licensing, robots.txt
  • User input: Personal data, trade secrets
  • Output: Misleading content, copyright collisions
  • Compliant AI: Law as part of product design
