What are employment terms?
Employment terms are the contractual conditions governing the relationship between an employer and an employee, set out in an employment agreement, offer letter, employee handbook or applicable statute. Typical terms include compensation, benefits, working hours, place of work, term and termination, notice periods, severance entitlements, confidentiality, intellectual property assignment, non-competition and dispute resolution.
In Türkiye, employment terms must comply with the Labour Law No. 4857, the Turkish Code of Obligations and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Cross-border startups commonly use a U.S. or U.K.-style offer letter combined with locally compliant employment contracts for each jurisdiction.
